In which I start a new series of Home Inspiration

I collect pictures from around the internet of what I want my future home to look like.
Ok, I collect a million pictures and I can't choose between them.

Let's start with Bedrooms, shall we?

These are a nice mixture of my favorite kiddie and grown up rooms, with a few in between rooms
(aka the rooms I'd want right now as a college student/single person).

{This is possibly my favorite grown up room}
{This is my favorite kid room. I can just see making an old attic into this one.}

{Just kidding, this is my favorite kid room.}

{Same room, different angle.}

{I love the chocolate walls! A new, fun idea.}

Whew!
That was a lot.
So, basically what I've gotten from this is that
a. I love beds like the one directly above
2. I love wood floors
c. I want a swing in my room
d. Old industrial places are awesome
5. I want a sheep skin rug and big windows

Better Than Twilight

Pretend that Bella has a personality.
Pretend that Edward is not quite so flawless.
And a brother that is also in love with the Bella character.

Viola!
You have a new vampire show that is awesome.

Don't watch this unless you're really bored.
It's one of my trashy tv shows that I only watch in the summer time because I'm bored.
But this one might carry over through fall.

Mainly because of this guy.

A Little Break Here and There

I'm sorry I'm a bad blogger.
And that sometimes I disappear off the face of the planet
(to those of you who are wondering).
But we've been having a bit of a family crisis.
And when it rains, it pours.
I'm currently hiding under my mom, just like that little elephant.

So I'll be here and there.
Around a little bit.
Ya know.

My New Obsession

If it's wrong, I don't want to be right.

Becoming Better

As an owner of massive amounts of long, dark hairs, I found this post very funny.
I've lived with many roommates and I've battled the hair thing.
This past year, all of us had long hair, and 3 of the 4 had darker hair.
The bathroom counter gets pretty gross.
I feel so bad for those who've had to put up with it the most
(Heather, Dawna, and Brothers, I know it was you. I'm so so sorry.)
and I vow to do better.

No more hair on the bathroom counter.
No more sticking my hair on the shower wall.
No more clogged drains.
No more white carpet with a fine layer of brown because the vacuum isn't working.

I've learned how to clean out the drain.
I'm turning over a new leaf.

Except for when we're driving with the windows down and it flies at your face, Dennis.
That's not my fault.

Some Pretty Things For You To Enjoy

I should tell you...
I love photography and pretty things.
I have a whole bunch of incredible pictures that I've collected from various places around the internet machine.
I don't always have a blog post for them over here, so I'm putting them all up on my tumblr, one by one, for you and me to enjoy.
Here we go.

Lots of fun pictures found here.

Missing Cat

This is the best thing I've seen today.
Please laugh as much as I did.

Walk, Walk, Fashion Baby

I have this funny little walk.
It's kind of like a duck.
Floppy.

And Momma noticed of course.
She used to do a little modeling, back in the day.
She told me what to do and how to fix it.

So I was working at the restaurant the other night and practicing how I walk.
One foot in front of the other.
Barely sway the hips.
Shoulders back.
Work it.
Fierce.

I went to ask some ladies how they were doing and one of them said,
"Girl, you have a mean walk. And I should know."
Turns out, she used to be a model and currently trains them for the run way.

Mission accomplished, Mom!
Now I can go back to walking like a duck.

Then, Anggie and I did prego Tiff walking impressions.
Maybe I'll start walking that way.
{aka waddling}
It's fun!

A Piece of the Past

Today I found a time capsule that I made when I was in high school.
You know, the little film cans that you put a piece of paper in that you've folded up super tiny.
I'm guessing I made it in seminary {more about that here} and, by the handwriting, I was probably about 14 or 15.
It only had two things on it.

1. Be more outgoing
Score!
I've socked that one right out of the water.
I think that living on my own and having to choose to be friendly or be lonely has made me a bit more outgoing.

2. Grow closer to my Savior
I don't usually wax religious on here, but I find it interesting that as a young teenager, I was interested in building a relationship with my Savior.

Isn't time a funny thing?
I'm a completely different person than I was even 3 years ago.
I was just talking to my dad about how different I am from when I was 18.
I don't even recognize myself.
It was fun to see how I felt about myself at age 14 by reading just a little slip of paper.
I'm going to do it again.

Why don't you make a time capsule?
Write down what you want to be in 5 years? Or ten?

That Imaginary Person In Your Head

Today I was talking to myself.
Not that this is unusual.
But today I realized something:
I call myself Sister.

I looked in the mirror and said, "No red lipstick with this skirt, Sister."

Weird!
I think it comes from my parents, who call me Sister
{it works because I'm the only girl.}

Do you talk to yourself?
Do you call yourself by your name?
I'm curious as to whether or not I'm the only crazy one out there.

Summer Soundtrack

Here's some songs for you to enjoy.
{All of them very different...}

Everything Trying ~Damien Jurado
All Over Me ~Josh Turner
If I Die Young ~The Band Perry
Water ~Brad Paisley

Ima Real Cowgirl

Once, I branded a cow.
For reals.
Here is my proof. (That's me, in the red shirt, holding the branding iron.)
And it was actually a couple cows.
And, you know, I helped with some other stuff that needed to be done.
I know, I'm awesome.
It was the best day of my life.
And now all I want to do is marry a cowboy and live on a ranch.
Funny, how I never thought that I was interested in that sort of thing.
Surprise!
I love it.

Outdoor Longings

Okay, I think I've finally got this little thing to where I don't want to shoot myself in the face every time I look at it.

I'm not abandoning tumblr, I'm just going to post back on here again, where my real readers are.

A few minutes ago, I was giggling to myself about a post that I was going to write.
And now that I'm actually typing, it's gone, of course.

Oh!

Found it.

I've been thinking a lot about the outdoors.

I'm back home in Florida with my little family for the rest of the summer and the weather has been tough.
It's not that I mind hot (not at all) but I'm feeling a little overwhelmed by the humidity.
For those of you who have been forced to spend more than 10 minutes out of doors in central
Florida in the summertime, you know what I'm talking about.
It isn't easy feeling this sticky.

But I digress.

When I said I've been thinking about the outdoors, I meant that I had been dreaming about this:

I can't wait until I have a husband and little kiddies to take camping.
Not in Florida.
That's gross.
But down to Moab and up into the mountains.
I want to cook over a fire and teach my little ones where all the constellations are and play the guitar and sing around the campfire.

Sigh.

For now, I have awesome friends and family to do this with.
Yay me!

Stupid Blogger

I'm switching to tumblr until I can figure this thing out and stop being so angry at it. I might come back here one day soon. I might not. I don't really know yet. Anyways, meet Lady Reynacorn.

Oh, and the irony that I am using Blogger to advertise Tumblr is not lost on me.

Enjoy.

Stuck

See the new layout?
It was an accident.
I don't know how to fix it.
And I want to go back to the old way.
HELP ME!

The World Cup

So some people are, like, annoyed with me for not blogging.
Which is flattering.
So here we go again.

You know how I hate sports?
Well, I do.
I think they're silly.
And boring.
But then I met the World Cup.
I mean, I resisted for a good chunk of time.
But last week I was bored and missing all the obsessed people I hang out with in my dear Provo, and BAM! It hit me. Portugal vs. Spain.
Those men are hot.
I think that's actually what it is.
Not soccer.
Just the hot men running around.
Super enjoyable.
Try it sometime.

Harry Potter vs. Twilight

Um, YES! I could have written this. Just to let you know.

The Choo Choo Monies Club

Dear friends,
I think it is time to introduce you to one of the best parts of my life.
The Choo Choo Monies Club!
Members include
Joey
Jim
Michelle
and Me
We have a few honorary members,
Danielle (she's one of the more permanent ones)
Sam
Emil
Eric
and whoever else joins us.

We also have our own troubadour, Rob. He is also a great cream soda supplier.
Basically, every night for the past month or so, we've gathered at one of our houses and played Choo Choo Monies (more commonly known as Ticket to Ride) and danced and eaten and watched movies.
And it has been awesome.
Now I'm gone to Florida for 6 weeks, but I can't wait to be reunited with my favorite people (besides my family, of course! Jeez, Mom, don't get mad...)

I love you guys!

ps I stole all your pictures off of Facebook. Why don't we take more pictures?

Awkward Acknowledgements

.credit
Tonight I went to the hot tub
(never happening again. It made me itchy.)
with my posse
(more on them coming soon!)
and I saw this girl there.

I think I know her.
I mean, knew her.
Maybe?

I think my brother liked her once.
And I'm pretty certain we went to Girl's Camp together.
She's maybe 2 or more years older than me.
And her name is possibly Olivia.

Sitting less than 4 feet from each other, we did not acknowledge that maybe we might possibly know each other.
Because that's weird.
Right?
It felt weird.
There was nothing I wanted to say.
And I always thought she was snobby anyways, so no need to get into that.

You know what I'm talking about?
It's like, when you sit next to that kid for a whole semester but 2 years later pretend like you've never met when you walk by them on campus. And if you catch their eye and smile, they quickly look the other way or suddenly get a text.
You know exactly what that is.

It's awkward.

zzzzzzzzzz

This post isn't about me being sleepy, although I usually am these days. I just accidentally hit the z button instead of the shift button and was too lazy to change it or think up a clever title.

I've wanted an iphone for awhile now.
But I've restrained myself.
Because, you know, I'm like a really poor college student.
But then they keep coming out with all these cool apps and I keep going over my budget to try and see where I can cut corners to afford paying my own phone bill.
And I could do it.
But common sense holds me back.
Like, how I'd rather spend that money on things like cowboy boots.
And how my laptop is enough of a time sucker.
So I try not to think about how much more convenient it would be to carry around one little gadget instead of both my phone and my ipod.

But my irrational wants aren't the purpose of this post.

Today I read that Steve Jobs (you know, that Apple guy) is against pornography.
Here's a quote (from here).

As you might expect, this has triggered a frenzy among some critics. Ryan Tate, a writer for the Gawker website, sniped at Jobs about suppressing his customers’ “freedom,” prompting Jobs to respond, “Yep, freedom from programs that steal your private data. Freedom from programs that trash your battery. Freedom from porn. Yep, freedom.”

When Tate replied that he didn’t want “freedom from porn,” Jobs answered, “You might care more about porn when you have kids.” In a correspondence with a consumer, Jobs went even further, speaking of his company’s “moral responsibility to keep porn off the iPhone.”

Morality in a major corporation?
I love it.

More information on how and why I feel the way I do about pornography found here.

Developing Some More Musical Skills

The last Boy played guitar
(and sang and wrote songs and performed at local venues and it was lovely...but I digress)
and for the first time ever I wanted to be able to play guitar.
So I'm determined that when I go home in two weeks for the rest of the summer that I'm going to learn.
Because Matthew (remember him?) is going to teach me. He doesn't know this.

And then I saw this case today and was inspired by the vision of myself carrying my guitar on my back as I walk around town.
One day, when I can spend £115 on a guitar case, I will be awesome.

I Can Hear Music

Favorite songs this week include

I Give It All by He is We

Pistol by Dustin Kensrue

Birds by Kate Nash

and Wagon Wheel by Old Crow Medicine Show

Enjoy!

A List of Weird Things I Do While Sleeping

1. Take off all my clothes
2. Put on all my clothes (including things with tricky hooks and buttons)
3. Take the painting above my bed off the wall and lean it on the other side of the room
4. Put my hair up in a bun

I wonder what it is that I'm dreaming?

Month to Month

May was not kind to me.
I got in a car wreck.
I got dumped by the nicest, nicest Boy I've ever met.
I missed the bus on a regular basis.
It snowed on the 23rd.

June has already proved nicer.
I got a cheap plane ticket home.
Window Boy saved me in my dumpy car.
And now he's fixing it.
What a hero.
I'm maintaining a decent grade in Spanish.
I've been running every day and I feel good.
I'm living vicariously through Miss Marzipan's love life (an nyoung!)
Jakeb found passes to Seven Peaks water park for half price.

And everything is going to be alright.

Did I mention I'm tan?

For the love of all things decent

Please please go here and share you thoughts with me. What does this mean? As a lover of all things classy, I believe that couples like this one should be shot. I am dead serious. Did you follow the link? You will agree, I'm sure.

Monday Playlist

1. Boys With Girlfriends Meiko
2. Skinny Love Bon Iver (and Ingrid Michaelson's cover of it!)
3. Song for the Angels Great Lake Swimmers
4. Happier A Fine Frenzy
5. Electric Twist A Fine Frenzy

I thought that I'd start sharing some of the songs that have been occupying my time. So here are five that I've thoroughly played to death this past week. Lurve.

Daily Affirmation

I'm gonna start doing this every single day. Somehow I think life will be easier with that kind of attitude.

My Space

Wanted: The man who lives in this room. He looks awfully amazing.

I feel like the best way you could ever possibly get to know me is by coming up to my room. Everything hanging on the walls, stacked on the bookshelf, and dancing in the closet screams more about who I am than an hour alone with me ever could. Isn't that fascinating?
Because of this, not very many people have been in my current bedroom. It's all me. And that's kind of scary. So if you've actually been in my room (and you don't live with me) then you should feel very special. Because you're one of very few. I mean, a couple people have slipped by, but for the most part, my space is pretty VIP.

Everything You Need

If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.

~Cicero

Dear mom,
You have everything you need.
Although I would add music and me to the list.
So, really, you have it all.
Love,
Flossie

Prom

I don't have the fondest memories of prom. I mean, I was homeschooled. So maybe I'm bitter towards the whole thing. But I went with a friend. Maybe 2 years in a row? I don't remember.

The point is, I don't love the idea of prom. And I hate those dresses. I bring this up because the above picture was on my Facebook home page today. Hopefully 7 of the girls in the picture will have no idea that I think their dresses are hideous. Ok, maybe 7 is a little harsh. I know the girl in the middle in green. I think her dress is lovely. I also think the girl on the end in the aqua color is decently clothed.

But the orange? Really? And the weird color 4th from the right? Prom dresses are already silly and not so classy. What were their parents thinking, letting them walk out looking like 35 year old playboy bunnies? Ok, done ranting.

Keep it classy. Aka don't let your daughters out of the house dressed like that.

You can now be as cool as it gets.

If there is one material possession that I need in this world, it is a Penguin Book mug. Preferably the Wuthering Heights or the 1984 one. You know.

Happy Birthday, Moose Man!

(His silly happy face is so like my own)

So I have this little brother.
And yesterday was his birthday.

18!!!!

So exciting!

And I love him a lot.
And I don't know if he even reads this, but I'm going to post it on his Facebook so he has to.

He's the one I call when I hear a ridiculously stupid joke that I can't tell to anyone else without getting socially rejected forever.
And he even laughs at them.

He's the one who is politically savvy and passionate.
Look out, America. He might run for president one day.

He's got this mop of curly hair that is adorable, but he won't let me touch it.
One day I'll wear him down with pomade.

He's sarcastic.
But oh so nice.

And he has this little silly voice that he uses when talking to the pet guinea pig that is sappy and so ridiculous that you could puke with the sugary sweetness of it.
He got that from me.

He hates vaccuming, but he does it anyways because mom always asks him.

And he's really good at guitar.
Like, really good.
He's going to teach me some songs this summer.
He has really big muscles. Watch him whup Dennis at stick pull with no problems.

And great musical taste.

He embraces all his quirks.
And so do I.

Because he's awesome.
And he has more courage in life than I ever will.

Which is nice.

I love you, Moose/MongATongTongHongEWong

Happy Birfday.

I'm Not That Girl

You know, the one who is always perfectly accessorized. I am not a girl who wears a lot of jewelry. I have my CTR ring, my sailboat toe ring (thanks, Talana!), and sometimes a little pair of gold earrings. Anything other than that rarely happens.

BUT...

If I were to wear any other jewelry, these would be on my list.

A Tiffany's ring

Some stuff from Anthropologie

And this ring, only with my own constellation (which is Cancer, in case you were wondering) instead of Gemini. (source)Oh and here's a picture of my CTR ring, in case you were wondering. It's absolutely lovely and I adore it. (source)

Some Notes

Dear Frohike,
Isn't it funny?
I don't know how I made it to 19 without you.
Fanks for being there when I'm whiny.
And when I'm sad and lonely.
And when I have the mean reds.
And when I have weird dreams that are too inappropriate to share with anyone.
And for every other time that I can tell you anything, even when it's dumb.
(Especially when it's dumb.)
And for being the only person who understands me completely musically.
If you were a boy, I'd chase you to the ends of the earth.
Thank goodness you're not, so I can just have you whenever I want without having to worry about all those complicated emotions.

Come back soon.

Because I miss you.
(And I'm getting the mean reds and you're so good at keeping them away.)
Love, Mulder

Dear Word Girl,
Really? Japan? It's so so far!
But not even a whole ocean could change my love for you.
Hurry home with lots of stories to tell me.
My love for you is like a loving river of loving love.

Dear Boy,
Really? No.
I do not want to be your friend.
Today.
Maybe tomorrow.
You are a male siren in all your hot glory. I'm plugging my ears.

Dear 30 Rock,
Thanks for making me laugh out loud last night.

Dear Danielle,
You are amazing.
From Swan Princess to Spanish help to German pancakes.
I need you there for all of it.
Best neighbor ever.

Dearest Michelle,
Our dinner party is going to be the classiest opening event of the Spring season.
I can't wait.

Dear Utah,
Giving me a ticket was stupid.
I did not cause that wreck!!!!

.credit
Dear Legs,
Suck it up.
Walking and bicycling is good for you.
If you behave, I'll find you a good running trail and maybe take you hiking.

Dear Body,
Thanks for slimming down and tanning so nicely.
You're looking good these days.

Dear San Francisco,
I'm looking for schools and apartments.
I'll be back soon.

Dear A Fine Frenzy,
Could you get any better?
I want to be you, Alison Sudol.

Random Fact

Did you know that if an octopus gets stressed out, it will sometimes try to eat its own arms?! I know. Weird. I'm full of amazing random facts.

California

A friend of mine took me home with him for a little mini vacation. And besides a couple bumps and bruises along the way, I think the trip was a success! I fell in love with the town of Oroville. San Francisco convinced me that I want to move there (it was really easy! All it took was a trolley, a ferry, and a couple seals.) I hiked up to a waterfall, got a decent tan, ate my weight in cherries, and made some amazing new friends. Don't be surprised if I leave Provo as soon as I straighten a few things out. Because I'm in love. With California, that is.

Get ready for some melodrama. I'm back in the blogging world and I'm gonna be interesting for a bit. Bah ha ha. Enjoy.
