Becoming Better

As an owner of massive amounts of long, dark hairs, I found this post very funny.
I've lived with many roommates and I've battled the hair thing.
This past year, all of us had long hair, and 3 of the 4 had darker hair.
The bathroom counter gets pretty gross.
I feel so bad for those who've had to put up with it the most
(Heather, Dawna, and Brothers, I know it was you. I'm so so sorry.)
and I vow to do better.

No more hair on the bathroom counter.
No more sticking my hair on the shower wall.
No more clogged drains.
No more white carpet with a fine layer of brown because the vacuum isn't working.

I've learned how to clean out the drain.
I'm turning over a new leaf.

Except for when we're driving with the windows down and it flies at your face, Dennis.
That's not my fault.

P: People

This has been a new semester for me, because it is the first where I have my own room.
And while this is nice in some ways {having my own bit of space and all} I find that more often than not, I am just lonely.
There is no one that is going to come in and tiptoe to their bed late at night.
There is no one to talk to at 2:00 in the morning.
There is not a soul in sight to save me when I hear a scary noise and get a little bit frightened. There is no one to giggle with.
There is no one to argue about the laundry all over the floor with.
There is no one to fight with about who was the last one up that should turn off the light.
There is no one to just be with.

And today I discovered that I kind of like people.
Sure, maybe they annoy me sometimes, but I like having a person.
And my roommate has always been my person for me.
I need someone to be here when I'm in a bad mood.
That way, I don't just sit alone and sulk.
There is someone there to tell stupid jokes and make me forget why I was so darn cranky in the first place.
So Dawna, come back.
And come back soon.
Because I am not doing so well here on my own.
NEVER LEAVE ME AGAIN!!!!
That goes for you too Katie Kelly.
And Heather.

Because Blue Food is Fun Food

Sometimes Tiffany and I get bored. "What's that?", you may say. "You? Bored?" Yes. And that is when we start to do things like this.

The benefits are that no one will ever confuse their milk with yours. The bad part of it all is that the German pancake I made yesterday turned out green. Which does not look very appetizing. I don't know what Dr. Seuss was thinking when he wrote Green Eggs and Ham. I do not like them, Sam I Am.

I'm not sure why this question had to be asked. Sorry H-face.

Roommates

I have officially decided to make this Wonderful Women Week (and practice my alliteration while at it). So here I am going to feature some wonderful women who have influenced me for good. Everyday people that I can't live without.

Today I am starting with my roommate. You know, those girls that you meet and are terrified because you are going to be LIVING WITH THEM! And you don't really know them, so you just pray that they don't kill you in your sleep. Then, two weeks later, BAM! You're friends. Buddies. And you hang out, and watch movies together, and give all the boys that walk through your door funny nicknames. And because I like to do things in organized groups, like 3's and 5's and such, here are my 3 favorite roomies that pretty much changed my life.

1. Captain Katie the Kelly

My very first roommate. The one who curled up with me my first night when I was a crying little wimpy freshman who was desperately homesick. She kept me safe from Creepy Produce Man and Soup Boy. Then she left me for Chile. But I love her still and longingly await the day of her return.Katie took me for my first time sledding. Rock Canyon Park is the best!

2. Dawna

Dawna and I were best of friends immediately upon meeting. I think it's because she was curled up on the couch with a book, muddy buddies, and an America's Next Top Model marathon playing on tv. She invited me to sit next to her and pretty soon I was hooked on the best laugh ever and the best shoulder to lean on. Her perfect star atop the already glamorous tree? She loves Support Your Local Sheriff. Done son. Dawna and I are a packaged deal. Well, we will be when she gets back from Scotland.

Team Waldo on game night. Our motto? Accept defeat. It hurts less.

3. H-face

Where to begin? Heather introduced me to the finer things in life: X-Files, Lady Antebellum, Vegas, Wicked, Costco water bottles. You know, all the things that you can't believe you lived so long without. She became my confidant, shared her clothes with me, and sometimes swore at me. All while keeping me entertained with stories of work and her love life. And it was good. I love that she is scared of spiders and that she is obsessed with JoDee Messina. She didn't leave the country like the other two, but she graduated. Why does everyone leave me?

Post Edit:
I forgot to mention that Heather introduced me to blogging. Without Heather, you would have nothing to read. I know! Impossible to imagine! We like to get into trouble on dark, rainy nights.

So those are my ladies. Don't you wish you knew them? They look very cool and and when I am with them, I feel very awesome, hoping that some of their amazingness will rub off on me. So far, no luck. But don't worry, I have the rest of my life.

Thoughts on Change

In less than a month, this shall be me. I am very happy about that. I am not so happy about moving out of my beloved Roman Ruins. We had a ward luncheon (thanks, Bishop!) to take a break from finals, and I was getting very depressed at the thought of leaving my fantabulous ward. My room is also looking empty, for I packed away all my books and most of my clothes. The Christmas lights are still up around my bed, so that helps a little. But I am mostly just sad.

(No Elfie, not because I am leaving you. I don't love you. I loathe you. Remember? Ok, that's a lie. Please don't leave me!)

I decided that I don't like change. I like the idea of change, I don't actually like the thing itself.

A Few Reasons Why I Love My Halloween Socks

1. They are striped, which reminds me of French things
2. They are never hard to find because of the red blinking lights (located in the witch)
3. They are always clean, even when they are dirty
4. They keep a good portion of my leg very warm
5. They remind me of my trip to Boise with Jessica

Heather finds them ubiquitous, always on my feet or on the floor, I find them simply wonderful.

(Me! Getting ready for a cold day at school. Don't worry, I wear pants and boots over them before going out in public. Mostly. There's that one time I went bowling...)

Dialogue of My Daily Life

Heather: I wanted to be the quote of the week!!!

Me: What have you said that is quote worthy this week?

Heather: Everything that comes out of my mouth is quote worthy! Just listen. You will hear something.

A Quick Update On My Day to Day Life

~Living in a desert has its perks: no humidity (a.k.a. no crazy hair), incredible landscapes, etc. But I am trying to decide if it's worth it. My feet are so dry that they are cracking. Cracking! And every day my hands get so cold and dry that my knuckles split. I was just looking at my hands and they hurt! I am tired of going to bed with Aquaphor and socks on, because I hate socks. The good thing is that I am drinking A TON of water because my throat is always dry. That's healthy, isn't it? But I decidedly need a pedicure, so if you know any good places in the area, let me know!

~I am coming along quite nicely in my Spanish. I even spoke to Tavi so convincingly on the phone that he started to babble baby Spanish at me. Of course, I was immediately lost.

~ Over the past month, I have read The Iliad, The Odyssey, The Aeneid, Oedipus Rex, and several of Plato's and Aristotle's works. Twice. Once in two different classes.

~I sit next to a really cute boy in my Humanities 250 class. He is from Kissimmee. Yes!

~I am slowly getting used to soy yoghurt.

~My bangs are at the most awkward length in the world. Annoying! I keep debating whether or not to cut them again.

~I have revived my Superman backpack. I love him.

~I miss Dawna.

Notes

I got this note today in Relief Society from one Elphaba.

Dear Lemonhead,
Why does your head look so much like a lemon? I mean, honestly, the shape is uncanny!
Also, you make me make a sour face when I see you, like lemonheads do.
You also have the smell of lemons--do you think so as well? I think you know you do 'cause you try to cover it up with perfume.
Lemonhead or not, you're okay. I will chew you up anyway.
Love,
Queen Heather

We both we laughing so hard we were crying and she almost had to leave.

Sunday Afternoons

When Elfie and I get home from church we go to PostSecret. It is great fun to read other people's secrets that they don't want anyone to know. It's incredible how brave anonymity makes some people.

New People

We got another new roommate today. I hope she isn't crazy.

Well, more crazy than us, I mean.

Florida

Who is done with finals? Oh, that would be me. And who had a very stressful day yesterday? Oh that would be me.

1) Dawna texted me at six am telling me to leave early because there was snow. I am so thankful she did because I had an exam at 7 and was planning to get up at 5. But that text woke me up. I have never ever gotten ready so fast in my entire life. Hoo boy.

2) I slipped on the way up the stairs and dropped my notebook everywhere. Stupid snow.

3) We aren't going to talk about this one. I am still not quite sure what to do...

4) The plane from Cincinnati was delayed. Stupid snow.

5) Florida is hot! I usually love it, but hello! I've been used to the cold and the jump to 80 degrees is intense! I might come back with a tan though. Too bad I forgot my swimsuit. Suck!

SO there are 5 bad things. Here are 5 good things:

1) I AM HOME!!!!! I missed my family so much and I am so happy to be with them.

2) Tavi loves me. He thinks that I am amazing and he keeps bringing me all his toys.

3) It's so nice and warm here! I will never be cold again.

4) I get to see Packer people today! That's right, be jealous.

5) Christmas is in 8 days!!!!!!!

So Happy Christmakkuh to all!

Laundry Day

Dawna has only done laundry twice since we have been here in Provo. I have only done it 3 times. It is an art, making your clothes last this long. Try not to be jealous.

Finals Week 2007

Who? Dawna, Reyna, Katie Kelly, and Missy
What? The O.C. marathons, cleaning checks, German pancakes at 3 am, all nighters, paint fumes, Tina Turner hair, boxes, crazy car rides, waiting for trains, Stardust, and packing. Oh, and finals were in there somewhere...
When? Winter semester 2007
Where? Glenwood. #56 baby
How? We are still trying to figure that out... How did we survive that week with no sleep, terrible food, and paint fumes permeating our pores? It is a mystery.

The Tine Turner hair
We had to get moving boxes/Katie Kelly was frightened of my driving skills. WIth very good reason, might I add.

We made a fort out of mattresses when we painted Dawna and Missy's room back to white.
...And then it collapsed.
We needed much energy to stay awake all those hours.
