Some Pretty Things For You To Enjoy

I should tell you...
I love photography and pretty things.
I have a whole bunch of incredible pictures that I've collected from various places around the internet machine.
I don't always have a blog post for them over here, so I'm putting them all up on my tumblr, one by one, for you and me to enjoy.
Here we go.

Lots of fun pictures found here.

Outdoor Longings

Okay, I think I've finally got this little thing to where I don't want to shoot myself in the face every time I look at it.

I'm not abandoning tumblr, I'm just going to post back on here again, where my real readers are.

A few minutes ago, I was giggling to myself about a post that I was going to write.
And now that I'm actually typing, it's gone, of course.

Oh!

Found it.

I've been thinking a lot about the outdoors.

I'm back home in Florida with my little family for the rest of the summer and the weather has been tough.
It's not that I mind hot (not at all) but I'm feeling a little overwhelmed by the humidity.
For those of you who have been forced to spend more than 10 minutes out of doors in central
Florida in the summertime, you know what I'm talking about.
It isn't easy feeling this sticky.

But I digress.

When I said I've been thinking about the outdoors, I meant that I had been dreaming about this:

I can't wait until I have a husband and little kiddies to take camping.
Not in Florida.
That's gross.
But down to Moab and up into the mountains.
I want to cook over a fire and teach my little ones where all the constellations are and play the guitar and sing around the campfire.

Sigh.

For now, I have awesome friends and family to do this with.
Yay me!

For Tiffany

Because I love you. Let's make a room like this last one.

Thursday, March 11

The Most Random Post Yet. You've Been Warned.

Look! An artistic interpretation of how I felt today upon finding out that I had been scheduled wrong, and my appointment was at 3:00 pm, not 4:00 pm like I thought. Like I could have made it to a 3:00 appointment. Idiots.

It is finally warm enough to ride my bike around. The park is pleasantly close and the grass conveniently soft for laying and reading on.

And, he's back! That boy I was over that it turns out a friend of mine knows. You know, the one from 2 years ago. Nothing dredges up the past like a mutual acquaintance. Or, in this case, a mutual really good friend.

All in all, I'm grateful for trashy novels, like these, whose over the top drama help me realize that I've got it good. I mean, I've never been forced into an engagement to a man I hated when my true love was the carriage boy. I've never had to run off with the carriage boy to California, only to have him shot and killed mere hours after my wedding. And because I hate the character that that all happened too, I'll also remind myself that my true love never married my arch nemesis to save my reputation from being soiled. After I'd had intimate relations with above mentioned true love. Nope, I've got it good.

Prettiness

Because I like pretty things, I want you to have something to look at besides that grumpy cat. So here are some photographs from Lauren Withrow. Mindy was so kind to share her talent with us all. Enjoy.

Floating Beds for Magical Ladies

This is my new favorite photo and I long for a bed of my own in the middle of a pond.
I wish I had something clever to say, some topic that would enchant my dear readers, but nothing comes to mind.
I shall come back in the morning with a fresh mind and deep thoughts to share concerning magical looking beds.

Oh wait!
One just came to mind.
The Lady of Shalott.
I don't know why, but this bed reminds me of her.
Maybe it's just the water and the loneliness of the scene.
Speaking of Elaine, didn't Padme, at the end of Star Wars, look just like her?
Elaine had to be the inspiration for the way they portrayed her.
Yes, I am a nerd.
Sorry.
Not.

.the problem with the credit for the top picture is that I can't seem to remember where I found this... let me know if you know so I can credit it properly. The bottom was googled. xoxo

I promised Mindy a post. And I promised my mom pictures (because there was no color the last time she read my blog). And I am promising to be a better blogger.

Boredom

When I'm bored, I do silly things. Like this. I found it on Facebook. And it is kind of fun. You should do it, too.

Instructions:
To figure out your band name, first album & your album cover:

1 - Go to Wikipedia. Hit “random”
or go here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.... Read More

2 - Go to Quotations Page and select "random quotations"
or go here http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last few words of the very last quote on the page is the title of your first album.

3 - Go to Flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
or go here http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4 - Use www.picnik.com to put it all together.

I am always haunting the random page on Flickr. So many cool things to discover! Anyways, I was very pleased with how my album turned out.

For all my fear of the dark, I love night time.
I love the dark sky with the bright moon and sparkling stars.
It is magical.
Now who wants to go on a walk?

Annie Leibovitz

Have I ever told you that I think Annie Leibovitz is a genius? I can't help it. I've been pouring over her images for the good part of an hour. Curse you inspired artists!!!

Some of her incredible achievements include the following

Romeo and Juliet with Coco Rocha as Juliet and Roberto Bolle as Romeo. The full story is in the December 2008 issue of Vogue. (I found it here)

Her Vogue shoot with Drew Barrymore as Beauty & the Beast (found here)

Natalia Vodianova as Alice in Wonderland (found here)

This fascinating shoot titles Killers Kill, Dead Men Die that includes all the famous people you can think of (full article here)

And of course, the Disney shoot that includes everyone else. Here are my absolute favorites from that one (available here)
(Ok so the last one is technically not Disney... I still love it!)

Not So Happy Endings

Dina Goldstein is the brilliant artist that came up with the marvelous idea to create a portfolio of Faery Tale princesses struggling with the problems we face in the world we live in today. "I began to imagine Disney's perfect princesses juxtaposed with real issues that were affecting women around me," she says, "such as illness, addiction and self-image issues."

Thank you so much for sharing, Joanna.
