Wild Nights Are My Glory

This past Thursday, I went to see Moliere's Tartuffe for an English class assignment. (Which was awesome by the way, and you should go see it while it's still playing. Very Tim Burton-esque and very funny. Click here for tickets.) Coming out of the theatre, I was going to take a bus home. But then I noticed the wind. Oh, the wind! It was stunning, and large, and more beautiful than anything I've imagined! I felt as if something big was coming, something big and magical and stunning. The sound, the feeling, the everything! So good! So I walked the streets for hours that night (literally. Two hours.) And listened to all the big music on my ipod (I'm needing some more suggestions. I exhausted my supply of Narnia, Peter Pan, and Lord of the Rings soundtracks. Know any other big music?) Best. Night. Ever.

Two days later came the snow. And you guys know me. I hate the snow.

But not this time.

This time it was magical. This time it won my heart. This time I realized why so many people love winter. The hush, the swirling white that covers the world in beauty. Love. Love love love. Now I know another reason why I am in Utah. I needed to learn that this world is beautiful in all of its clothing. And I love it.

Today it is snowing again.

Ten (or Eleven)Things I Hate About Tuesday

You think it's pretty, huh? Snow is tricksy like that. I bet you wouldn't like driving this either.

I am a firm believer in equal opposites.
I think the Universe is, as well, and felt the need to counteract my happy Tuesday of last week.
Stop here if you don't want me to drag you down into the mire.

1. There is snow.
Everywhere.
Everywhere.
And I had to drive in that nasty stuff.
Please remind me that I love BYU.
Because I hate Utah right now.

2. Even though it is 1 degree out, my room has got to be in the nineties.
Not a lie.

3. The last assignment of the semester (to write a radio script for my advertising class) is hanging over my head.
It's due at 11:00 am and I haven't even been able to think of what product I want to write a jingle for.

4. My phone has done nothing but receive calls today.
No texts (to or from) and no phone calls from my end.
I feel lonely, detached, and ready to trade in a few fingers for the returned use of my phone.
(Cell phone, cell phone you're my heroin...sing along now!)

5. I have been waking up each hour for the past few nights.
No explanation.

6. I feel really fuzzy right now.
Which is mostly synonymous with blue/cloudy/under the weather/Eeyore-like/cranky.

7. I was irresponsible yet again (surprise!) and now plane tickets for Christmas have jumped beyond my price range. And I hate using my credit card.

8. The cute boy I have had a crush on for months has no inclination to ask me out, despite not a few successful and fun interactions.
I am starting to doubt what little feminine charm I thought I possessed.

9. I ate around twenty peanut butter cookies.

10. A certain four year old felt that entertaining her for 4 hours was absolutely necessary, despite the long list that her mother gave me to take care of most certainly proved otherwise. And because I am cranky, I did not appreciate being asked every 5 minutes (not an exaggeration) to provide entertainment.

And because I am cranky, here is another one

11. I was so tired (from being up all night) that I accidentally fell asleep from about 5:00-7:00 pm.
So I'm gonna be up all hours.

Happy post coming tomorrow, so don't fuss.

Reyna and theTerrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

!. I woke up and it looked like this out. Is someone seriously trying to kill springtime?
@. I woke up a little late in desperate need of a shower, but the water was turned off.

#. I didn't realize the water was turned off until I already had cold cream all over my eyes, trying to get yesterday's makeup off.(See? You need water.)

$. I have spent the last 24 hours thinking that today was Friday, which made me think I had a test at 3:00 (false) and freaking out because I wasn't prepared. I just realized, like ten minutes ago, that today is only Thursday.

%. Have you ever tried to live your life without running water?! Let's just say that I would have made a rotten pioneer.

But it is only noon, so the day has the promise of improvement. For example, Jess and I are going rockclimbing tonight. There is a cute boy at The Quarry. Bwahahaha!

Sunday, January 4

I just don't know how well this plan was thought out... I like warm weather, and it is 9 degrees!

It is days like today that make me wonder what the heck I think I am doing. It is 9 degrees out. 9! That is incredible to me! I have never felt anything so bitter in my entire life. If it keeps this up, I might just transfer to somewhere a bit warmer.

P.S. Snow is only pretty the first day it falls. For all you lucky Florida people who don't really know this, they shove it up in piles that get dirty and yucky and it is ugly. Just thought you ought to know, just so you can shove all those romantic ideals concerning snow right out of your head.
I'm going to look like this poor beech tree before the week is out. Thank you global warming for the pretty picture.

Florida

Who is done with finals? Oh, that would be me. And who had a very stressful day yesterday? Oh that would be me.

1) Dawna texted me at six am telling me to leave early because there was snow. I am so thankful she did because I had an exam at 7 and was planning to get up at 5. But that text woke me up. I have never ever gotten ready so fast in my entire life. Hoo boy.

2) I slipped on the way up the stairs and dropped my notebook everywhere. Stupid snow.

3) We aren't going to talk about this one. I am still not quite sure what to do...

4) The plane from Cincinnati was delayed. Stupid snow.

5) Florida is hot! I usually love it, but hello! I've been used to the cold and the jump to 80 degrees is intense! I might come back with a tan though. Too bad I forgot my swimsuit. Suck!

SO there are 5 bad things. Here are 5 good things:

1) I AM HOME!!!!! I missed my family so much and I am so happy to be with them.

2) Tavi loves me. He thinks that I am amazing and he keeps bringing me all his toys.

3) It's so nice and warm here! I will never be cold again.

4) I get to see Packer people today! That's right, be jealous.

5) Christmas is in 8 days!!!!!!!

So Happy Christmakkuh to all!

Snow Fell Last Night.

Today when we got home from church, my home teacher threw some snow at the car. And then his roommate threw some too and it hit me as I got out of the car. I escaped but Dawna got caught in the mail room. I bribed the man away with a cupcake, and Dawna thanked me by throwing snow down my "cleavage". So I chased her and she wound up on the ground. I felt bad because I stepped on her and she was hurt. Happy Holidays everyone.

Snowflakes and Hot Chocolate

Today is snowed. I felt like Christmas. Then, I went outside, and I just felt cold.
