Happy Birthday Brother!

Once there was a baby born on Halloween.
Creepy? Yes.
But don't worry, this was a Nice Baby who grew to be a Charming Boy.
He was the oldest, so that gave him certain privileges, but he never exercised unrighteous dominion. If anyone did, it was the Magnificent Madam Mim ( or Younger Sister).
Instead, he was goofy and nice and if somewhat lazy, no one could grudge him that.
After all, Mother Dearest always did call his name first when there was work to be done.
So he grew up to be a Jolly Fellow who did Great Things.
Well, the Great Things were few, but he has plenty of time to work on those.
This only being his 22nd birthday and all, he has plenty of time to do Stuff.

Happy Birthday, Brother!
Love,
Madam Mim

In fact, we all love you.

Ghouls and Goblins

Happy Halloween everyone! I hope that it's spooky and altogether ooky!

Boredom

When I'm bored, I do silly things. Like this. I found it on Facebook. And it is kind of fun. You should do it, too.

Instructions:
To figure out your band name, first album & your album cover:

1 - Go to Wikipedia. Hit “random”
or go here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.... Read More

2 - Go to Quotations Page and select "random quotations"
or go here http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last few words of the very last quote on the page is the title of your first album.

3 - Go to Flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
or go here http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4 - Use www.picnik.com to put it all together.

I am always haunting the random page on Flickr. So many cool things to discover! Anyways, I was very pleased with how my album turned out.

Guess What?

I have the flu.
And it has already ruined my life.
Twice.
I had a huge paper due yesterday and I couldn't think well enough to do it.
And I had a costume party on Saturday
(H-face and I got fake blood and scrubs for me and a butcher outfit for her. Scary? Yes.)
And I can't sleep.
Which is why it is 4:00 in the morning and I am blogging instead of sleeping.
I just took a Tylenol p.m. and am waiting for it it kick in.

Anyways, the point of this post is to ask all of you to update your blogs.
Because I've watched most of the movies we have, I've exhausted Hulu, and the only book left that I haven't read is Henry James' Portrait of a Lady.
And that is much too heavy stuff for my fuzzy brain (I'm not getting enough oxygen, I'm sure).
So I need something to do.
a.k.a. Read blogs.
Please.
Help me.
I'm going crazy.

N: Night

For all my fear of the dark, I love night time.
I love the dark sky with the bright moon and sparkling stars.
It is magical.
Now who wants to go on a walk?

M: Matthew Perryman Jones

How perfect is it that the night I go see Ingrid Michaelson her opening act is Matthew Perryman Jones, just in time for the letter {M}?
Perfect, no?

So basically I went to see Ingrid with Miss Elphaba and it was amazing!!!
That girl can belt it out.
And she is better live.
I love me some Ingrid.
So, top picks for the night were

Sort Of
The Hat
Die Alone
Everybody
And the remix of Maybe with lyrics about Mexican food
Far Away was pretty good too.

But on the Mr. MPJ.
I love him. His lovely lyrics. His beautiful, soft voice. And we got to take a picture with him. Lovely. He is sweet.

Best songs of his included

Rain or Shine
Where the Road Meets the Sun
Save You

M: Maybe

Maybe... I did eat 12 cookies for breakfast the other morning.

Maybe I did skip American Heritage this week.

Maybe I do like Barbie movies.

Maybe I have been wearing the same shirt to bed/relaxing around the house for 3 days now.

Maybe I am excited to go to Ingrid tomorrow. (Maybe is a good song, by the way.)

Maybe I have decided on a Halloween costume. Maybe I haven't.

Maybe I do glance across at his window when I come into my room.

Maybe I resurrected the Superman backpack today.

Maybe I'm on my 3rd water bottle for the day.

Maybe I'm ready to finally start working out. There is no inspiration like a Mr. Darcy that runs triathlons.

Maybe today is going to be a good day.

M: Music

We all know that I am obsessed with music.
I blame my mother for raising me on big, powerful music that just takes over your whole soul.
I grew to develop my own tastes {but don't worry, I still love love love The Grass Roots, Jay and the Americans, Beverly Bremmers, Petula Clark, Lobo, Olivia Newton John, BJ Thomas, Gary Puckett...the list goes on and on}.
And now I am crazy for country, insane for Ingrid {concert Saturday! Woot!}, ridiculous for Regina, silly for She & Him, manic for musicals... ok I'll stop now.

ps
How do I label some of my favorite music?
When someone asks me what kind of music I love, I can say, "Country, musicals... IngridMichaelsonShe&HimReginaSpektorJoshuaRadinMariaTayloretc.etc...."
That has got to stop.

ps2
Ingrid and Miranda have fabulous new albums and Lady A has promised us a lovely new one for January 26th.
Be ready.

Interruption

Fall is here in Provo.
I thought you should know what I look at each morning.
Well, except for yesterday.
Yesterday was foggy and cloudy and rainy.
My carefully coiffed hair became a puffball after I walked about campus and got soaked.
I bought a cheap umbrella in the bookstore, but it was already too late to save the hair.
Curses.
On a happy note, I ran into Kenzie.
And I love that girl.

L: Lighthouses

.credit

I want to be a wanderer. I want to live in a gypsy wagon or an Airstream, but part of me loves permanence. And a lighthouse is the best kind of permanence. Strong. Immovable. And the light! My favorite hymn is Brightly Beams Our Father's Mercy. I want to buy a lighthouse. I want to be the light that guides in the boats to safety. It conjures up images of Nathaniel Bowditch, pirates, the ocean, beautiful things.

One day. One day I will be a lighthouse owner.

K: King Arthur

The Once and Future King, The Sword in the Stone, The Lady of Shalott, Lancelot and Guinevere...The Aurthurian legend is full of great stuff! My mom has this beautiful painting by E.B. Leighton above the piano in our living room and I love it! Most of my favorite books have King Arthur somewhere in them and almost all of my favorite artwork is inspired by him. Just lovely, isn't it?

K: Kites

Some of my best memories are of going to the park late at night with Talana and flying our $2 Barbie kite for hours. I don't think that there's a better way of getting in touch with your inner child. Plus, flying a kite over the ocean is just so darn beautiful. So I'm getting a kite this week and dragging Window Boy to the park to fly it with me (don't worry, he likes these kinds of things).

J: Joshua Radin

My new lover. I mean, I knew about him, had some music, but for some reason he stood out to me this week and it has been good. The Fear You Won't Fall is my favorite. And Sky with Ingrid Michaelson, of course. Enjoy.
