Provo Parenting and Asthma Attacks

This week, in an attempt to shape up, I have been hiking the Y. I've been up 3 times already this week, and it is killer! If you ask me about it, I will shrug and act all nonchalant, like it's no big deal. This is a lie. I am gasping like a fish out of water at every turn. It takes me an hour to reach the top because I stop and rest so much. Today was a lot worse, because I forgot my inhaler. Thinking that I was all cool, and that I could make it up anyways, I went on ahead, only to be passed up by a mom with three kids, none of who looked older than 5. Suck.
But on the note of people hiking the Y with children: Are they trying to knock off those poor little kids? Besides making the poor things hike while crying that it is too hard and that their poor little feet hurt, these crazy parents were letting them climb up all over rocks that I would be a little cautious about standing on, and I love things like that. I watch one little girl slip and barely catch herself from a 200 foot fall. Not cool, mom and dad. There were at least 10 other families going on up. Some of them were having a great time, collecting sticks, running around, and generally having fun, but the majority made me want to adopt all of those poor kids.
Did I mention that it was muddy and the way down turned into me sliding on my butt for almost a mile? On a happy note, I saw a hot man running with his shirt off on my way home.

Negative Nancy

~Someone used A TON of my milk. Yes, I am lactose intolerant, but I was using this for cooking. And unless it was Heather, I wish they had asked.

~I have a headache

~I am all out of water bottles

~I still have two exams and two papers left this week

~I didn't do so well on my Classical Civilization exam. Quite possible because I didn't read The Odyssey this past week because I have already read it twice this semester.

~I haven't watched X-Files in a week and I am DYING to find out how in the world Scully is pregnant and how she is going to find Mulder.

Alright, so to balance all that out, I need to make a Happy List:

~I am eating a heaping bowl of apple cinnamon oatmeal that I just made from real apples and steel cut oats.

~I am alone in the apartment

~I got to sit next to Jonathan last night during the FHE movie (thanks Heather! I owe you!)

~I went up the mountain today. Beautiful. The lake was red from the setting sun and it was silent.

~Macy cracked me up today with her rendition of Luke Bryan's Country Man. And she took out all the garbage without me having to ask.

~I have a house to live in in the fall, and it is amazing! Details to come on that one...

A Place to Hide

Have you ever met Prince Charming? I have. Just once. Sure, there have been others who liked to pretend that they were, but they weren't. They were just weak imitations of what Prince Charming should be. What no one tells you though, is that Happily Ever After isn't all that real. Prince Charming doesn't always stick around. I think that would be ok, and I could get over it, except for that we go to the same school. Sure, with 36,000 students you would think that we would have a hard time running into each other. What are the odds that he would happen to have a class in room 445 of the MARB the hour before mine? I'm not sure, but every time that I saw him this semester, my heart hurt. Which was about 3 times a week. Did you know that mountains are great things to climb up and hurt and cry on? Because they are. They broaden your perspective and make everything seem smaller. That makes it easier to deal with. So my advice to those of you who have lost Prince Charming to another princess, Go find a mountain.
