Ima Real Cowgirl

Once, I branded a cow.
For reals.
Here is my proof. (That's me, in the red shirt, holding the branding iron.)
And it was actually a couple cows.
And, you know, I helped with some other stuff that needed to be done.
I know, I'm awesome.
It was the best day of my life.
And now all I want to do is marry a cowboy and live on a ranch.
Funny, how I never thought that I was interested in that sort of thing.
Surprise!
I love it.

Outdoor Longings

Okay, I think I've finally got this little thing to where I don't want to shoot myself in the face every time I look at it.

I'm not abandoning tumblr, I'm just going to post back on here again, where my real readers are.

A few minutes ago, I was giggling to myself about a post that I was going to write.
And now that I'm actually typing, it's gone, of course.

Oh!

Found it.

I've been thinking a lot about the outdoors.

I'm back home in Florida with my little family for the rest of the summer and the weather has been tough.
It's not that I mind hot (not at all) but I'm feeling a little overwhelmed by the humidity.
For those of you who have been forced to spend more than 10 minutes out of doors in central
Florida in the summertime, you know what I'm talking about.
It isn't easy feeling this sticky.

But I digress.

When I said I've been thinking about the outdoors, I meant that I had been dreaming about this:

I can't wait until I have a husband and little kiddies to take camping.
Not in Florida.
That's gross.
But down to Moab and up into the mountains.
I want to cook over a fire and teach my little ones where all the constellations are and play the guitar and sing around the campfire.

Sigh.

For now, I have awesome friends and family to do this with.
Yay me!

Warning for my mom: Do not read this. Do not look at the picture and imagine it is me.

Most people that know me would be quick to agree that I am not an outdoorsy/active kind of a girl. I prefer to be inside, warm and cozy with a book and a blanket or dressed up in my high heels. But this is all about to change. "What's that?" you say. How can this be? What would inspire such a change?

Rock Canyon Park, people. Climbing up the rocks and repelling. At night. Seriously, so fun! I can't get over it.

When Heather texted me to invite me to go, I was immediately in.
But then we started talking about what it all entailed, and it sounded a little too adventurous.
So I called Dave, one of the guys we were going with, to get some details.
And he totally talked me into it without trying to.
Going up was a bit hard on my underdeveloped lungs {the doctor's words, but my own fault},
but getting to the top was worth it.

There were a few bumps. {Or rocks. Whatever.}
It was a bit cold.
I was wearing five layers, including thermals and a down coat, and it was still chilly.
Climbing over to Dave so I could go down was a bit nerve wracking.
And there might have been a point where I relied on the rocks more than the rope...resulting in some bouncing and a fit of giggles from Heather.
And I wish we had had a camera for that one.
But all in all, I would have done it ten times if I wasn't so darn tired from climbing up and if it was 50 degrees warmer {not a lie. We're talking in the twenties at least.}
We ended the night with hot chocolate and Glee.
Utah is awesome.
I want to do it again tonight.
